The Department of Civil Engineering has been a part of the college since its inception in 1965. It boasts qualified and experienced staff and well-equipped laboratories, containing basic equipment required for undergraduate courses and modern equipment for postgraduate and research requirements. The Department is highly active in academic, research, and consultancy programs, receiving grants from MHRD, DST, UGC, and AICTE. The Department has several advanced test facilities, such as Soil Dynamic Testing and a Reaction Bed for cyclic/dynamic loading of structures. Test Tanks are available for testing model foundations with the capability to change the water table position. In 1999, the Department established the Centre for Geo-Environmental Engineering, the first research centre in the College. Additionally, the Department has its own computer laboratory, seminar hall, and library to meet the needs of undergraduate, postgraduate, and research students.
